Ryan and Parents
On November 20, 2006, twenty-year-old Ryan Madden was convicted of two armed robberies and sentenced to 15 years in state prison for 2 separate crimes he didn’t commit.
After his conviction, bank ATM pictures from one of the robberies were forensically enhanced by a world-class expert using a technique called photogrammetry.
The results, posted throughout this site, proved beyond a shadow of a doubt the gunman was someone other than Ryan.
Throughout this website, you will discover why those critical ATM pictures were never enhanced for the jury to consider, along with Ryan’s proof of innocence. You’ll also discover what you can do to assist in overturning this miscarriage of justice.
The Case For Innocence
In the following pages, you will be shown the specific forensic evidence Ryan’s jury has never seen to this very day, such as…
- ATM photos that weren’t forensically analyzed until after the verdict – which revealed the suspect was 2.99 inches shorter than Ryan. The margin of error is 1/10 of 1 inch.
- Forensic analysis revealing that not one facial measurement of the suspect in the ATM photos matches Ryan’s facial measurements.
- Ryan’s attorney mistakenly assumed the ATM pictures had already been enhanced by his previous court appointed attorney – which turned out to not be the case.
- One robbery victim changed her initial identification from Ryan to James H as being the robber after being shown pictures of James by the defense investigator. The jury never heard about her changed identification and uncertainty, however.
Further Proof of Innocence: An Overview
As mentioned, one robbery was at a bank ATM machine, in which there were pictures taken of the actual robbery suspect.
- 12 minutes after the robbery, the suspect used a credit card stolen from the victim to pay for food items purchased at a nearby gas station minimart.
- The minimart clerk later testified that James H, whom he recognized from previous purchases, as being the person who handed him the stolen credit card to pay for the purchase.
- The clerk also testified that James H was wearing the same green camouflage jacket and tan baseball cap the suspect in the ATM robbery was photographed wearing 12 minutes earlier.
- Forensic enhancement of the ATM pictures conducted six months after Ryan’s conviction proved the robbery suspect to be 3 inches shorter than Ryan.
- James H’s height was measured at 5 feet 7 3/4 inches. Ryan Madden’s height was measured at 5 feet 10 3/4 inches.
You may be thinking… ”How does an innocent person get convicted for crimes they didn’t commit?”
Although this website lays out in specific detail how this miscarriage of justice occurred, the shortened version of that question is answered quite simply.
- Ryan’s attorney never had the bank ATM pictures forensically enhanced to determine if the robbery suspect shown was indeed Ryan.
- His own attorney also never submitted to the court receipts and certified telephone records which confirmed Ryan’s alibi that he was 33 miles away from the location of the second robbery at the time it occurred.
- The jury convicted Ryan without ever having seen this exonerating evidence or known of its existence.
